Staying on Track with a Hectic Schedule
Everybody has a different schedule. We all have tons of different time commitments and things we need to do. We all live lives that involve us to move around and stay busy. Whether you are a full time student, working full time, a stay at home mom, or anything else, we all have responsibilities. Having a busy schedule can mean less time focusing on our goal of losing weight. We might get so busy we forget to eat lunch and have a huge dinner. However, this is no way to lose weight. There are a number of different things we can do to keep losing and do all of our responsibilities the right way.
1. Bring your tracker/phone with you: If you track in a book bring it along. This way you are held accountable for what goes into your mouth whether it is a quick snack or a big lunch. Same goes with your phone. Track everything you eat. This way you don't forget about it and end up overeating later on. We are all on the go but if we can keep a tab on what we eat we won't get carried away.
2. Plan out your week in advance: This can be hard, but picking day to meal prep can save us a lot of hassle. Bringing your meals with you can save you from buying an unhealthy meal that we will regret later on. Meal prep is usually easy to do. Make everything in bulk and put it in containers for the week. This will help you to stay on track and it will feel really good in the long run, I promise.
3. Buy healthy snacks: When you go to the supermarket, choose a healthier alternative. When we are busy we often choose snacking to comfort us. If we pick something that is healthy we won't get negative and down on ourselves for snacking. This can help us stay focused on our common goal and to keep us accountable for all of our actions.
4. Don't fall into peer pressure: Sometimes our friends or co-workers or even kids will want to go out for an unhealthy meal. They will really put the pressure on us to come with. We always want to be on everyone's good side so we usually say yes, but we don't have too. Sometimes saying no to our friends is hard, but it will benefit us from not losing sight of what is most important, our health.
5. Stay active: While on the go we are usually running around. Stay on your feet and stay moving. Walk that extra little bit on campus, or around the workplace. Go to the company gym if they have one or take the kiddies for a bike ride. Do some stretches in the office. There are so many options we can take when staying active. Don't let work or class get the best of us. Remain as active as possible and don't feel bad about sitting for a few hours.
6. Promote a healthier lifestyle: People often listen to others who seem to know what they are talking about. I know I do. I respect people who have their stuff together. If you have been doing a great job on your journey and really feel confident of what you are doing, share it with others because you don't know who's day you can change. Telling people about the healthy choices you have been making might rub off on them and can promote a healthier workplace.
There are many different things we can do to stay on track while staying busy. But the main goal is to stick to the common goal of losing weight. If we remember how important it is to do this and to stay healthy, these things will come easy. Being busy shouldn't stop us from sticking to our ground and promoting a healthy lifestyle. It comes easy in fact. Keep working hard and it will come as a breeze.
