Tips for Keeping the Weight Off

Hi everyone! Since senior year is here and work is crazy I am going to be posting once a week. I know a lot of people struggle with losing weight and then keeping it off, me having been one of them.  This is a really hard thing.  We go from being super successful and dropping the weight and being super excited about it, to forgetting what works and then backtracking on everything we did.  I know my first go around at Weight Watchers I lost 40 pounds and I was thrilled. I was so proud that I could accomplish that, but as soon as I started to gain this confidence, I started trailing off, and overeating and taking advantage of the situation.  Sure enough I had gained my weight back and more. I was more unhealthy than ever and it took me a couple years to realize it.

We all want to be successful.  We all want to be that confident, beautiful babe we know we can be.  That is why staying on track, even when you have been successful is important. Here are some of my tips on keeping the weight off after we have been successful.

1.  Don't overeat- Overeating can be the death of us. I experienced it first hand.  Yes we have lost the weight, yes our metabolism is faster, but this is no reason to eat a whole pizza.  You can splurge a bit but moderation is key.  Don't let your belly talk for your brain!

2.  Stay active-  Staying active is super important.  Even if it is just taking the dogs for a walk around the block or cleaning the house.  Stay on your feet when you aren't busy.  Do the things that helped you get to the point you're at now.  Go to that Yoga or Zumba class once a week.  Remember the things that changed your life, and keep them up.

3.  Buy a new wardrobe-  If this isn't motivation I don't know what is!  Buying new clothes that you haven't been able to fit into for awhile is so important.  Remember how good it feels to wear that size you've been striving for.  You don't want to have to retreat back to those old clothes do you?  Feeling confident in your clothes is key.  Stay dedicated.

4. Tracking is Still Important-  Yea we have lost a bunch of weight.  Yea we have a better understanding of what we can and can't eat.  But writing it down or logging it on your phone will help you stay motivated.  You won't eat that doughnut or candy bar and say whoops and not track it.  Always log what you eat.  It will keep the weight off I promise.

5. Always Look Back-  Remembering who we were and what we came from is always important.  I am constantly looking at old pictures and that is a daily reminder of how important my weight loss journey has been to me.  It has changed my life for the better. I am no longer that sad girl that did not want to step outside the house.  I have become someone I am proud to be.  Remembering how much of a daily struggle we went through will help you appreciate the good you have now.

Stay dedicated.  Remember the past and look forward to your future.  You took this path for a reason. Make the feeling last!
