How to Stay Focused When You are Struggling

Image
Okay, so I have been back on track for about a week now and I seriously feel like I could bite someone's head off. You know when you are awkwardly waiting patiently for your stomach to shrink and it feels like you need way more food than you actually should have? Well this back on track thing can be super tough.  I want those fried chicken fingers and French fries really, really bad.  Sometimes I catch myself dreaming about terrible foods when I am slow at work. But then I really think to myself, none of that is worth it. You have to remember why are you doing this, and you know you gain weight faster than you lose it. It can be super stressful, but when you see that scale drop week to week it will get easier for you, as it always does on this journey. I have done this before and if I could lose 83 pounds, what is 25 more? It is all mental, do not psyche yourself out. Here are some tips on ways to stay focused when you are struggling. Drink a ton of water: Drinking wat...

Meal Prep and Tracking- The Keys to a Positive Journey

Image
Morning Everyone! It's Day 1 of Sarah back on track and I am here to share with you some of my tips for keeping myself in line.  Staying on track can be extremely difficult.  Someone from work brings in a bag of bagels, or that cake for somebody's birthday.  We all wanna dive in and indulge.  But these are things we have to learn to cope with. The best way to stay on track is to PLAN EVERYTHING.  Literally, write it down, memorize it, and stick to it.  Planning out your meals for the week is the key to having success. Pick a day that works with your schedule.  Go to the supermarket and plan your meals. You can stick with the same meals or you can spice it up.  As long as you stay on track with your meal plan, whether it's Weight Watchers or another plan.  Go to the supermarket and don't get anything, I repeat ANYTHING that isn't part of the plan.  I always find myself wandering down the junk food isle and then have to kick myself in th...

Don't Forget to Get Up, After you Fall Down

Image
Well, it's been awhile. I can honestly say I was pushing through hell for the last 7 months. With Senior Year and working 2 jobs, I barely had time to function. But the end is near and graduation is around the corner with a full time job offer. So exciting times ahead! I have to say I seriously struggled over these past months and I have really lost sight of what is important. Me. I forgot how to love myself and respect my body and my needs. Before this I worked my way down to the 120s by eating right and getting my workouts in. But over this stretch of time, I really started struggling. It would be harder to find time to pack my meals, and I would call and order daily. I wouldn't get time to workout because I would feel overwhelmed and exhausted by the time I got home every day. I really started to lose hope and I just gave up. I let the weight pile on. Today I am 20 pounds heavier then my lowest. Part of me wants to give up. And not start all over. Because that is ...

Haters.

I just want to say a huge THANK YOU, to all of the haters out there. Because of you, I have become a strong and independent woman. Because of you I think more highly about myself. Thank you for all the times you put me down and belittled me, because I came out stronger. Thanks for the times you told me I was eating too much, or the times you've told me I put on weight. Thank you for all of your mean messages and texts and harsh words. Because of you, I love myself. Your words and actions mean nothing to me. I chose this weight loss journey for me. Oh did you think it was for you? It wasn't. You might have helped me jumpstart my weight loss path, but I sure didn't lose the weight for you. I did this so when I think about all the times you hurt me, I laugh and say I overcame that. I overcame the fear you instilled in me. I thought you meant something to me, but you were never there to lift my spirits. So I surrounded myself with people that did. I welcomed that positive lif...

Staying on Track with a Hectic Schedule

Image
Everybody has a different schedule.  We all have tons of different time commitments and things we need to do.  We all live lives that involve us to move around and stay busy.  Whether you are a full time student, working full time, a stay at home mom, or anything else, we all have responsibilities. Having a busy schedule can mean less time focusing on our goal of losing weight. We might get so busy we forget to eat lunch and have a huge dinner.  However, this is no way to lose weight.  There are a number of different things we can do to keep losing and do all of our responsibilities the right way. 1.  Bring your tracker/phone with you:  If you track in a book bring it along.  This way you are held accountable for what goes into your mouth whether it is a quick snack or a big lunch.  Same goes with your phone. Track everything you eat.  This way you don't forget about it and end up overeating later on.  We are all on the go but if ...

Good Things Happen to Those Who Wait

Losing weight is hard. Everyone knows it.  We think we're doing good but we have hit a plateau and can't seem to keep the ball rolling.  This can affect us in many ways.  It can affect our mood, we won't want to go out with friends or have any fun, we will just want to sit at home and be frustrated. We might not have the energy to go to the gym.  We may think about just shoving a bag of chips or cookies down our throat because, why not we aren't losing any weight.  Well these are all negative feelings we need to stop immediately.  Losing weight is really hard.  To quote Coldplay, "Nobody said it was easy."  This journey is full of ups and downs and twists and turns.  It really is a long and bumpy ride. On my journey I hit so many snags.  Some days I felt so down I couldn't get out of bed.  Other days I clung to food as my crutch to get me by.  I didn't think I would ever see the end line.  This was no help to me at all. ...

Tips for Keeping the Weight Off

Image
Hi everyone! Since senior year is here and work is crazy I am going to be posting once a week. I know a lot of people struggle with losing weight and then keeping it off, me having been one of them.  This is a really hard thing.  We go from being super successful and dropping the weight and being super excited about it, to forgetting what works and then backtracking on everything we did.  I know my first go around at Weight Watchers I lost 40 pounds and I was thrilled. I was so proud that I could accomplish that, but as soon as I started to gain this confidence, I started trailing off, and overeating and taking advantage of the situation.  Sure enough I had gained my weight back and more. I was more unhealthy than ever and it took me a couple years to realize it. We all want to be successful.  We all want to be that confident, beautiful babe we know we can be.  That is why staying on track, even when you have been successful is important. Here are some of...
