Hey everyone! I'm Christina! First of all I want to Thank the lovely and always so sweet Sarah for featuring me on her blog!
When you grow up overweight everything is a little harder. School was a nightmare for me. I was bullied from 1st grade on and it has permanently affected me. I don't think people really understand how much they can hurt someone. It wasn't until I got to college that I found people who got to know me for me. I struggled with depression and self loathing at every point of my childhood. I comforted myself with food because it was easy. My weight continued to climb and I continued to buy bigger sizes pretending nothing was out of the ordinary.
I have tried any diet you can think of at least once. I always had initial success of about 40 pounds before I would give up and gain it all back. Self sabotage was my speciality. The first time Weight Watchers was successful for me was when I was in college. My roommates and I started cooking together and working out regularly. I got down 45 pounds before I graduated and was feeling pretty good about myself. After graduation I moved back home and fell into old habits. All the weight plus more came piling back on and I reached my heaviest point. I had this moment on my 23rd birthday where I saw a picture of myself and I couldn't even believe it was me. I looked like a balloon and I knew it was time to take control. August of 2013 I started Weight Watchers again and I have stuck to it. I had a few months at the beginning of 2014 where I started a new relationship and stopped losing but didn't gain any weight back either. I am now down 74 pounds and I have never felt better. I am at the lowest weight of my adult life and I have gained so much confidence and love for myself. The majority of my success is due to the Instagram community. Never would I have imagined a place where so many men and women support and build each other up. It's an incredible thing.
My only recent hurdle is being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and learning how to listen to my body. My workouts have had to come to a stop while I build up my immune system but it's not going to stop me from reaching my goals! Here's to a happier and healthier life!
